It's not often that we get to see a car straight out of a videogame being sold to 25 lucky customers. Meet the all new McLaren Solus GT.

If you're familiar to the Gran Turismo game franchise, then no doubt you've given McLaren's Vision GT a run, ever since it was released in Gran Turismo Sport in 2017. At this time, the VGT car was a 1,100hp, radical single seater powered by a hybrid twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor on both the front wheels. It was hard to believe that this car would ever be turned into a reality. Most super/hypercar manufacturers have been included in Vison Gran Turismo projects in the past, such as the Lamborghini Vision GT and Bugatti Vision GT, however the McLaren Solus GT is the first ever to be put into limited production.

A few things have been altered between in-game and real life. The twin-turbo V8 has been swapped for a naturally aspirated, 5.2L, 840hp V10 engine, capable of revving all the way past 10,000. Yes, this will be quite pleasurable to hear. The driver, unlike in the game, does not lay on their stomach, instead cocooned in the regular driving position. However the Solus GT sticks with its videogame roots with the exterior design. Just look at the thing; it's bonkers!

Thanks to the 5.2L V10, sophisticated aerodynamics, downforce, suspension and steering systems, the Solus GT will be the fastest McLaren around a track, excluding F1 of course. This isn't a surprise, considering it has a kerb weight of only 1000kg, while producing 1200kg of downforce. All of this is done without the addition of active-aero - purely a humungous rear wing, gaping air flow tunnels and an aggressive front splitter. The Solus GT springs from 0-100km/h in 2.5 seconds, and is believed to be the competitor to the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro and Mercedes-AMG ONE. With these companies making essentially civilian F1 cars, is it too early to presume that Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Alpine will also follow the trend? Only time will tell.
