Aston has always been one for stretching the boundaries and conventions of luxurious and performance-based tourers, with the biggest sellers in the brand’s marketplace being comfortable yet aggressive cars that don’t particularly fit into any genre. With the all new DB12, they have done so again. Aston Martin claims that the DB12 is the “world’s first Super Tourer”. Seemingly, it sits in the gap nestled between Grand Tourer and Supercar; a fitting label then. Aston Martin has disbanded the V12 engine, with the DB12 powered by the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 familiar in the Mercedes-AMG range. Since the V8 variartion of the DB11, a 150bhp increase in power has occured resulting in an ample 671bhp and top speed of 325km/h. While there have been significant changes and upgrades to the power in production of the DB12, revision to the suspension, exterior and interior design has also occured making the DB12 a heavily evolved facelift to the previous DB11. Gorgeous 21-inch alloy wheels sit in front of 400mm front and 360mm rear brake disks, available as cast-iron or carbon-ceramic as an option. The exterior seems to be the product of stylistic components from both the DB11 and the DBS, creating a sophisticated and elegant car. The interior has been completely redeveloped, with the infotainment system facing comprehensive changes, with alcantara and leather materials finishing around the heavily-buttoned central controls. Estimated price at $450,000AUD.
